“I think I will have one of these at home!” and “ooo we are not going to eat him are we?” were just a few of the comments from our residents when Wild Science joined us at Cedars!

Aimee from Wild Science shared her experiences and knowledge about the animals with the group, introducing some strange and wonderful animals to the residents. We had an albino hedgehog, African land snail, chinchilla, leopard gecko, African tree frog which amazingly when it’s not active changes colour, and a guinea pig!

These creatures offer both comfort physically and emotionally, bringing about much conversation, reminiscence, and laughter between our residents. There are many benefits of Animal Therapy, such as a decrease in stress & anxiety, loneliness, improves joint movement, self-esteem and it’s a great social activity too!
